How can I tell if my Ram 2500/3500 has the Aisin Transmission and 8 bolt transfer case?

Some Ram HD trucks use an Aisin transmission, which is the heavy duty option, and means that there are then 8 bolts holding the transfer case to the transmission.
The easy way to tell if your truck has the Aisin transmission and 8 bolt transfer case is to open the hood and check to see which side the transmission dipstick is on. The Aisin transmission has the dipstick on the driver side and the 68RFE transmission, which uses the 6 bot transfer case, has the transmission on the passenger side of the engine.
Also, the Aisin transmission has the dipstick on the driver's side of the truck, the 68RFE dipstick is on the passenger side. the Aisin pan has a drain plug and ribbing going front to back while the 68RFE has no drain and cross-hatch ribbing.
